A couple of months ago we shared Sebastian Kunz's render of the 2014 Audi R8 which was based on the Nanuk concept introduced at IAA in Frankfurt the same month. Today we bring another render of Audi's next-gen supercar which unlike the first one distances itself from the Nanuk concept. The car is envisioned with a cherry red paint exterior scheme with contrasting aluminum details as a reference to lightweight technology in the Audi Space Frame design.
The next generation of the Audi R8 has been confirmed for a 2014 launch and will be built at the newly established Böllinger Höfe facility. Details about the car are limited at this moment, but it will allegedly maintain the proportions of the current model while its weight should drop below 3,307 lbs (1,500 kg). Engines will reportedly be carried over but with an extra 25 bhp (19 kW) and should feature stop/start and cylinder deactivation technology which will result in a fuel economy of up to 10 percent.
